BEHAVIOR TECHNICIAN Through the Behavior Technician program, you will receive the training needed to become a paraprofessional in the field of Autism services. This course provides an understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and best practices for assisting children and adults with functional communication acquisition, social skill development, and behavior change. You will learn about Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), an empirically validated method for changing behaviors and teaching social and adaptive living skills. This 60-hour course includes 25 hours of live instruction and 40 hours' worth of online modules that you complete at your own pace. The fully online sections of this class include live Blackboard sessions from 5-6:45 pm on Mondays and Thursdays. You must attend at least 80% of the live sessions in order to earn a passing grade. The hybrid sections of this class include in-person sessions on FTCC's campus from 5:30-8 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays. You must attend at least 80% of the in-person sessions in order to earn a passing grade. If you complete this course successfully, you will receive a Behavior Technician (BT) certificate and will be eligible for entry-level positions in the field.
